Just Weird Ways to Give

In addition to time, money, and blood, Americans also donate hundreds of millions of dollars worth of personal property to Goodwill and other agencies each year. Mostly, they give clothing, furniture, jewelry, cars, music items, and other secondhand goods that can be resold to help fund employment and other social services. But sometimes, the things workers find in the donation box are downright strange.

According to the Las Vegas Sun, a Goodwill donation-processing center in Nevada has received numerous dangerous items, including spears, swords, loaded guns, and even a live hand grenade! Associated Press accounts in recent years have covered other strange charitable gifts, including a land mine in Denver, a bag of marijuana, human teeth, and other assorted oddities.
